2017 - Autumn in Ohio Amish Country (Holmes County)

It's a wonderful time of year here in Holmes County, Ohio.  A drive down old backroads with your car window open just slightly invites scents of woodburning stoves and ovens.  Farmers have gathered together the last of the corn in the fields arranging them in fine symmetry across the fields like little teepees.  Here and there the glimpse of a horse and buggy trodding down the road is always a standard sight.  The self-reliant way of life...a God-inspired life that welcomes a good day's work and ample family-time in the home.  Living here is often a reminder in Romans 12:2, 'And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.  It's a quiet, unspoken invitation that God is waiting for you to invite Him into your life to guide your life; to throw away your idols and live by faith in Him instead of faith in man, where faith in man will always fail you.  There is a lot to learn here for those in the secular world or those trying to weed out things in their lives keeping them from living in faith.  Jesus said "Follow me..." ... and if what you're doing now is not working, then realize it is simply your desire for God which you may have overlooked.  Desire the things of God and the desire for worldly goods and worldly meanings will all seem so inadequate and empty.  With God all things are possible...!
